No Added Sugar Almond Latte Recipe

Hello dear readers,

And welcome back to a semi recapitulation of January so far. Some say January is both the most optimistic and the most disheartening month. Given the confidence of our New Year’s resolutions we start with so much enthusiasm, only to realize that things don’t always unfold according to plan by the end of the month. So here is a very timely month reflection to pause and continue with intention, not perfection.

But before we get into that, lest make something warm!

For this recipe we will use simple ingredients:

  • 1 shot of instant espresso

  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk

  • A pinch of cinnamon (optional)

  • Sweetener of choice (my personal favorite: liquid stevia)

Instructions:

  1. Low heat in a saucepan your unsweetened almond milk and once steam starts to show, turn off the heat.

  2. Froth your milk on a separate cup for the extra velvety texture

  3. Pour your almond milk into your favorite cup

  4. Next add your shot of espresso

  5. Finish by adding a pinch of cinnamon (optional)

  6. Have a taste test before adding your sweetener so you can slowly build up to your liking

Continuing with our conversation right now as we approach the of January, is the perfect moment to reevaluate and gently stir things back in the right direction, specially when it comes to our health goals. Between sips here are a few reflections.

1. The First Sip: Old habits may likely take sometime to change.

We often hope for a magic revelation were everything just clicks and we would have a smooth unscathed sailing tacking off every single one of our new healthy habits every day without missing a day. But once the holiday glamour its over and we slowly return back to our lives and our routines we are often encountered with the same interruptions/inconveniences that we left behind welcoming us to make our healthy path more difficult.

So what do we do?

We adopt a slow and steady mindset. Replacing one micro-habit at a time is the most solid beginning to build momentum.

2. Second Sip: Practice patience and give yourself grace in the process.

  1. It is not hard to believe that even when we begin our health journey with the smallest steps sometimes we can even fall short at that. we may start to question ourselves: “if i cant even handle this small change what makes me believe i can handle bigger ones?”

    Here is the antidote:

“Small daily habits create better results than unattainable perfection.”

3. Third Sip: Acknowledge you tiny accomplishments.

No matter how small, never underestimate the power of one. A massive ship is guided by a small but powerful wheel. Celebrating along the way is what begins to shift your mindset, the true steering wheel of ourselves.

4. Fourth Sip: Adjust where necessary.

There is no infallible perfect plan. One phrase live by is:

“Adjust the plan, but never the goal.”

This creates breathing room to experiment, to listening to your body, and what truly works for you. There is no single “right” way when it comes to health. And rather than labeling something as a failure, consider it valuable information, another way of learning what doesn’t serve you.

I hope this little pocket reflections come in handy for whenever you need them. keep in mind that your life and health is a wonderful journey and its meant to be enjoyed as we continue shaping our greatest project of all: ourselves.

Until the next brew,

Tayde
