The ultimate sugar-free hot cocoa: Your cozy companion for the holidays
Hello everyone!
What better way to receive these upcoming holidays than with a healthy sugar-free hot drink and today will be my first debutante for this holiday season and perhaps just in time for your thanksgiving table: My ultimate sugar-free hot cocoa.
Don’t let the “sugar-free label” discourage you, this hot chocolate is one of the main reasons why I’m thrilled to embrace the holidays without the fear of missing out on indulgent traditions, but at the same time keeping an eye on my sugar intake, so are you ready? This is wonderfully simple so let’s dive into it!
Ingredients:
Caffe D’Vita Sugar Free Hot Cocoa 10 gr
Hot Water 200 ml
Sugar free vanilla syrup 8 ml
Sweetener of your choice ( I use liquid stevia)
Hershey’s Cocoa Natural Unsweetened 100% cacao powder 2 tsp
Sugar free whipped cream (optional)
What we are trying to achieve with this drink is using the hot cocoa mix as our base and enhancing it to our liking and finishing it by dressing it with whipped cream for our pretty aesthetics.
Instructions:
1. Start with the hot water and stir in the hot cocoa mix. Why not milk you may ask? Of course you are more than welcome to use the milk of your choice but I’ve noticed that using water does not alter the chocolate texture nor the taste significantly with this specific recipe.
2. Add your vanilla syrup. Next take a small sip just to see how you like the vanilla notes. This gives us a good base point to enhance your drink but without the need to rely too much on our added sweetener. You might want to stop here for example my husband likes just the way it is and truly enjoys it.
3. However for my fellow chocoholics out there, I’ve got you covered. that’s when we add the Hershey’s cocoa powder which deepens the chocolate flavor beautifully though it can slightly reduce the sweetness. Which is when your chosen sweetener comes in. I’m currently using liquid stevia. A little squeeze goes a long way and the fact that it is liquid really helps to the integration to the rest of the mix.
4. Top it off.
Now last but not least if you are feeling a little fancy you can add the cherry (or whipped cream) at the top for that perfect holiday look and the pretty pictures because nothing says more “cozy holiday cheer” than a perfect hot chocolate in hand.
I hope you enjoy this recipe and brings you joy and a little sweetness without the sugar ;) Happy sipping!
Until the next brew,
Tayde
