Sugar free Pecan Syrup
Hello lovelies! So we have started our month of November and with that Christmas ambiance has arrived, however let’s not forget the reason we all look forward to this month and that is the wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. One of thanksgiving flavor staples is anything pecan and of course we have to take this opportunity to make ourselves a homemade pecan syrup perfect for lattes or iced coffee :) and the cherry on the top? Let’s make it delicious and sugar free so we can indulge without worries. Of course you can always purchase the already made pecan syrup on the market but I believe since it is very easy to make it is very much worth the little extra time because in the end nothing beats the fresh pecan taste :) so with that being said let’s get started!
INGREDIENTS:
For the homemade pecan syrup we will need:
Chopped Pecans 1/4 cup: since this is a single serve recipe I only specified what is necessary so half a cup of chopped pecans will be more than enough. Of course you can always add more to your liking :)
Zero Calorie Sweetener Brown Blend 20gr: you already k ow my beloved zero calorie brown blend from HEB. However there are other alternatives out there for a brown sugar substitute: there is brown swerve, brown monkfruit sweetener and if you like maple syrup there is also the Lakanto sugar free Maple flavor syrup!
Cinnamon sticks: Cinnamon is a staple for this months and this recipe is no exception a couple of sticks will do the trick.
Vanilla paste 1tsp: Vanilla paste is amazing for this recipe, of course you can always go for the vanilla extract but I recommend you to go for the paste because it adds sooo much flavor to this syrup, it truly is the magic ingredient
Butter extract 1/2 tsp: add a butter extract to your pecan syrup if you like, it definitely adds that nice comforting buttery taste to your latte. It’s definitely worth it :)
So now that we have covered our ingredients let’s move to how to to make this wonderful syrup, don’t be overwhelmed this is very simple to make :)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place your half cup of chopped pecans on to a sauce pan with medium heat in order to toast them a little bit. This will help to bring out the nutty taste and aroma from them.
After toasting them for a couple of minutes, pour 1/2 cup of water, sweetener, cinnamon sticks and vanilla paste. Continue stirring on low heat until you reach a low simmer.
Once you have reach a low simmer, turn off the heat and let it cool off enough for serving if you plan to use it for a hot drink or place it in the fridge for it to cool completely in f you plant to use it on your iced coffee drink :)
If you decide to make a latte, first pour your pecan syrup, then your instant espresso shot (2 gr of Nescafé gold in 2 oz of water) and last but not least heat your oat milk on the microwave 30 seconds at a time. Once you reach the desired temperature, froth your milk with the help of a hand frother and finally the fun part, pour your frothed milk to complete your latte, like placing a small crown to your cup :)
